Useful Info
Bombardier beetles are insects that can set you on fire. They can be found in the early Dungeon.
Tips & Tricks
- Bombardier beetles are what teach new adventurers how Sticky Flame works. 2d3 fire damage per turn doesn't look that bad on paper, but that damage ignores AC; even heavily-armored characters will take significant damage. However, moving around will reduce the duration of the effect -- if you're set ablaze, keep moving to shake the flames off.
- Bombardier beetles' Pyre Arrow is a natural ability, so you can't use silence or antimagic to prevent them from casting.
- They are slow, so it is easy to retreat if you can't fight one yet.
- They are vulnerable to poison, so kiting one around while throwing poisoned darts at a distance is a good way to avoid ever getting hit. Even at 0 skill, two successful darts will usually apply enough poison to kill one.
