Scale mail is not the most protective armor, but it does not require a huge amount of training to wear for light armor characters and casters, which is helped by the +4 strength. Overall, its stats and amulet slot alone make it a great choice in the early- to mid-game, outclassing most armors you can encounter by that part.<br />
