'''Chaotic''' is an attribute of monsters, gods, and items. [[Chaos]] in all forms is abhorred by [[Zin]], and creatures of [[chaos]] take more damage from the [[silver]] brand.

===Creatures===
Chaotic monsters are vulnerable to the [[silver]] brand, taking up to 175% extra damage. Players can never gain the actual "chaotic" flag, although being in a [[form]] will make you take the same 175% damage from silver.

[[Zin]] despises chaos, and worshippers who dare employ chaotic items or magic will find themselves undergoing [[penance]]. Worshippers who leave to [[Xom]] or [[Jiyva]] will also incur [[wrath]] (the other chaotic gods are [[evil]] and upset all three [[good god]]s, including Zin). On the other hand, Zin will reward followers who slay chaotic monsters with additional piety.

Items deemed chaotic ([[Chaotic#Chaotic items|see below]]) are forbidden by [[Zin]].

[[Xom]] may occasionally send you to special [[bazaar]]s, where you can find chaotic [[unrand]] [[artefact]]s - these unrands will have the [[chaos]] brand in addition to their regular brand and any other properties.
